The We Lead Survey
Included in the Leadership Academy registration fee, participants will have the opportunity to involve their schools in the We Lead — Whole Staff Survey (a $600 value). Individual school results will be distributed at the Academy. The We Lead survey assesses how staff perceive the school administration. Findings from the survey provide valuable insight into the leadership and overall health of a school and can be used to guide whole school reform efforts aimed at fostering rich learning environments focused on rigor, relevance, and relationships for all students.
The survey is based on the following constructs:
Coherent Vision

The We Surveys are easy-to-use tools that ask students, staff and community members to share their perceptions anonymously about the learning environment, quality of instruction and leadership in a school or district. Survey results are presented in a detailed report that can guide decisions about school improvement.
Feedback from students and staff about their experiences in school can initiate innovative, meaningful school change. When school is an exciting place to be, students are engaged and staff feel empowered to help students reach their goals.

The survey is based on the following constructs:
Coherent Vision
- Quadrant D leaders develop, communicate, and build momentum for clearly defined beliefs about teaching and learning and support these beliefs so they become widely shared, lived, and dynamic. Leaders provide adequate direction and guidance to help staff achieve school goals.
- Staff have a clear understanding of their work, feel accountable for outcomes, share responsibility for all phases of the school operation, and have a strong collaborative relationship with school leaders. Leadership trusts staff, which empowers them to see themselves as capable of responding directly to challenges and increases their willingness to do so.
- Teachers, administration, and staff consistently collaborate in attaining goals with a clear focus on continuous improvement, often finding unexpected solutions to complex problems. Staff are eager to learn new methods, incorporate new technology, and consider alternative approaches to help students learn. This culture manifests itself in strong critical friends groups, professional learning communities, and teacher-initiated professional development.
- An efficient school management approach has a system in place to handle logistical details such as building master schedules, managing the school calendar, and teacher duty assignments. Successful school leaders are able to manage daily routines and challenges skillfully, leaving time to focus on teaching and learning in the school.
- Leaders cultivate and maintain relationships to foster support for the learning environment, including parental involvement and responding to parents’ ideas and issues; community engagement to build sustainable support for new initiatives; and business and industry partnerships in support of real-world learning opportunities.
