Education’s Greatest Challenge The Urgent Crisis, Unprecedented OpportunityThe School Improvement Grants (SIG) of 2009 has provided a significant opportunity that ultimately sets the stage for education’s greatest challenge – turning around our nation’s chronically low-performing schools. LEAs that receive the funds must adhere to very specific guidelines and choose to implement one of the 4 intervention models as outlined by the US DOE.
