Dr. Fleishman oversees Scholastic’s strategic initiatives involving schools and districts, major educational organizations, and government and community agencies. He also is responsible for business and education partnerships with states, large school districts, corporations, and such groups as the Council of Great City Schools and Council of Chief State School Officers.

Ernie joined Scholastic in 1989 after serving as a highly successful superintendent of schools for 20 years in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. He has a long history of assisting educators in improving student literacy rates and in developing effective school leaders. While superintendent in Greenwich, Connecticut, the district received recognition for the nation’s best staff development program and school libraries.
